Synopsis
Eleonora Duse has a legendary career behind her that seems to have come to an end, but in the tumultuous times between the Great War and the rise of fascism, the Divine feels a calling stronger than any resignation and returns to where her life began: on the stage. It’s not just the desire to act that moves her, it’s a deeper urgency: the need to reaffirm herself in an ever-changing world which threatens to take everything away from her, even the independence she fought all her life to achieve. Unexpected financial setbacks force her to face a choice, and so, once again, Eleonora chooses the theatre as the only space of truth and resistance. With art as her only weapon, she challenges time and disillusionment, transfiguring every word and gesture in a revolutionary act. However, the price of beauty against power and History’s brutality is steep: relationships seem to dissolve, and her health deteriorates. Yet, Eleonora will face her final journey, proving that one can renounce life itself, but never their true nature.
