In the room of a modest pension in Paris, Oscar Wilde (Rupert Everett) spends the last days of his life. Memories of his past resurface like a vivid dream, transporting him to other times and places. Was he not the most famous man in London at one time? Was he not the artist once idolized by that same society that then decided to crucify him? Wilde melancholically reminisces about the passions that have overwhelmed him and reflects with tenderness about his incessant need to love unconditionally. He relives his fatal relationship with Lord Alfred Douglas (Colin Morgan) and remembers his flight across Europe, whilst experiencing again a great remorse towards his wife Constance (Emily Watson) for having thrown her and their children into the midst of the scandal that followed the dire condemnation for his homosexuality. Only the love and dedication of Robbie Ross (Edwin Thomas), who remains close to him until the very end in a vain attempt to save Wilde from himself, and the affection of the writer’s closest friend Reggie Turner (Colin Firth) follow Oscar Wild on his final journey.
