Synopsis

LEOPARDI
Giacomo Leopardi was born in Recanati in 1798. He is a child prodigy growing up under the relentless gaze of his father, who has a library that would rival the great European courts. Giacomo’s mind wanders, but the house feels like a prison: he reads about everything, but the universe is outside. In Europe, the world is changing, revolutions break out and Giacomo desperately seeks contact with the outside. At the age of twenty-four, he finally leaves Recanati. Italian high society opens its doors to him, but he struggles to adapt and lives a life full of expectations and desires yet marked by melancholy.
