Il Chiasso dei Barletti, a Lucca, ci ricorda l’importanza di guardare in alto, andando oltre il consueto vissuto. Un chiasso ricco di sorprese. Chiasso Barletti Uno degli ultimi video che ho girato con il Prof. Alberto Micarelli. La parola chiasso significa vicolo stretto e breve, una volta vi scorrevano fossette con i rifiuti, ma nel 1308 venne imposto di chiuderle con tavoloni o murature, prende il nome Barletti dalla famiglia che qui aveva le sue case. Ormai è uno dei pochi rimasti, un angolo medioevale nella città.
The Chiasso dei Barletti, in Lucca, reminds us of the importance of looking up, going beyond our usual experiences. A chiasso full of surprises. Chiasso Barletti One of the last videos I shot with Prof. Alberto Micarelli. The word chiasso means narrow, short alleyway. Once, there were ditches carrying waste, but in 1308, it was decreed that they be closed with planks or walls. It takes its name, Barletti, from the family that had their homes here. Now it is one of the few remaining medieval corners of the city.

Castruccio Castracani, Signore di Lucca, il 23 settembre 1325 nella piana di Altopascio vinse una Grande Battaglia combattuta tra le truppe ghibelline lucchesi ed i loro alleati aretini, pistoiesi, scaligeri e viscontei e le truppe guelfe fiorentine e dei loro alleati senesi, oltre numerosi mercenari stranieri. Grande vittoria dei lucchesi che avrebbe potuto cambiare la storia se Castruccio non fosse morto pochi anni dopo.
Castruccio Castracani, Lord of Lucca, won a great battle on September 23, 1325, on the plain of Altopascio between the Ghibelline troops of Lucca and their allies from Arezzo, Pistoia, Verona, and Visconti, and the Guelph troops of Florence and their allies from Siena, as well as numerous foreign mercenaries. This was a great victory for Lucca, which could have changed history if Castruccio had not died a few years later.

Passeggiando per Lucca è facile incontrare quelle che a Venezia son chiamate “pissotte” o “pissabraghe” dei semicerchi in ferro, talora con punte dissuasive che impedivano le lordure negli angoli, ma avevano anche lo scopo di impedire ai malviventi di nascondersi negli angoli bui e poi aggredire il passante. Talora erano sostituite da colate inclinate semicircolari come quelle di corte delle uova che svolgevano il medesimo scopo anti-crimine ed educativo. Ma sentiamo come ce le descrive l’amico Alberto Micarelli.
Walking through Lucca, it is easy to come across what in Venice are called “pissotte” or “pissabraghe,” iron semicircles, sometimes with deterrent spikes that prevented dirt from accumulating in the corners, but also served to prevent criminals from hiding in dark corners and then attacking passersby. Sometimes they were replaced by sloping semicircular castings, such as those in the egg courtyard, which served the same anti-crime and educational purpose. But let’s hear how our friend Alberto Micarelli describes them.

Nel Docufilm sono raccolte le testimonianze di 7 donne, alcune di città altre delle campagne, ognuna con le proprie esperienze ed il prorio vissuto. Queste ragazze che nel 1944 erano poco più che bambine, sono state testimoni del loro destino e hanno reagito agli eventi di tempi in cui il pericolo era quotidiano, vivendo esperienze che ci paiono lontane ed impossibili, ma che purtroppo il mondo attuale ci ripresenta. Ragazze che hanno vissuto il passaggio del fronte e la liberazione del territorio ove vivevano, portandoci racconti delle condizioni in cui vissero.
The documentary film collects the testimonies of seven women, some from cities and others from the countryside, each with their own experiences and stories. These girls, who were little more than children in 1944, witnessed their own destiny and reacted to the events of a time when danger was a daily occurrence, living through experiences that seem distant and impossible to us, but which, unfortunately, the current world presents to us once again. These girls lived through the passage of the front and the liberation of the territory where they lived, bringing us stories of the conditions in which they lived.
